HISTORICAL COMMEMORATION AND COMBAT REENACTMENT
Each year on the 1st of May at the Castles of Giulietta and Romeo in Montecchio Maggiore a fifteenth-century village revives animated by a large typical market from the district of the armigers featuring shows entertainment and medieval reenactment. The historical fight (Faida) between the families of the Montecchi and Capuleti is revived through this folklore combat reenactment event.
The event includes team games: after having won the final victory by overcoming the highest number of rehearsals, the winning team receives a prize painted by Felice Cosentino, which will be kept by the winners until the next edition of the games.
Those who register for the competition will be elected by the participating public including Romeo and Juliet of the year: these main characters will represent the city in major events with the official delegation of the municipality for the whole year.
